Audrey is a 6 year old girl with Down Syndrome who loves the popular “Fancy Nancy” children’s book. Audrey’s family have submitted her photograph to the “Fancy Nancy Fantastic Photo Contest.”
If Audrey wins, she will become the subject of the next “Fancy Nancy” book!
Support for Audrey has rallied and she now is 34th out of 617 contestants.
Why is it important for Audrey to win? Not only for her family, but for children with disabilities around the world. If Audrey wins and the next Fancy Nancy is about Audrey’s life, this will be the ONLY widely circulated book about a child with a disability. This book would not only be read by families like Audrey’s, but read by ‘normal’ children’s families, might help to stem the tide of discrimination against children with disabilities.
